Mardi Gras Sunday - March 3

Mardi Gras Sunday, the last Sunday before the season of Lent, will be celebrated Sunday, March 3, 2019, at the Waquoit Congregational Church during its regular 10 a.m. worship service.

Mardi Gras Sunday is a joyful and uplifting service featuring jazz and gospel music provided by the Cajun band, Ok Bayou.

During the services, the “keeper of the alleluia” also will be selected. Based on tradition, the keeper of the alleluia is responsible for holding on to a symbolic alleluia until Easter morning. In keeping with the Mardi Gras theme, there will be beads, hats and masks, and lots of singing of new and traditional jazzed-up hymns.
The Cajun Bank Ok Bayou features Amy Larkin on fiddle, Jonathan Larkin, Cajun accordion, and Max Cohen, guitar. Following the service, a Cajun food will be served. There will also be a traditional king cake.
All are welcome to this festive and fun worship service, regardless of faith tradition.
